“All you need is” low-code — Moving career to become a programmer? Try OutSystems educational tool.
As demand for software development grows, low-code tools are becoming greatly adopted by IT departments, reducing time-to-market of their software.
This puts the low-code market into high pressure and companies embrace professionals from non-IT-related areas, responding to this growing demand by “converting” professionals into low-code developers.
But how does it work, what does it take? Well, maybe not everyone becomes a low-code developer, but it’s not impossible to do so. In this article I’ll present three ways, for anyone who is looking into a low-code development career, to start building great applications.
Best of all… it only takes a correct mindset, focus and continuous engagement.
1. Online Learning
Online resources are a good option for those who want to explore the OutSystems low-code tool. Even later, when a certain topic is not so clear, to have these resources at hand for several topics. On the OutSytems website, there are plenty of videos, tutorials and a great community of developers, that can provide basic and advanced OutSystems knowledge and materials.

2. Schools and Classrooms
OutSystems regularly announces several editions of classrooms or low-code schools on their website. These are delivered during a couple of days, usually one week, with the help of a tutor. Most of the times a certification can be obtained at the end of the course.

3. OutSystems Academies
Companies that usually invest in training programs, create educational tracks for collaborators. This also a great opportunity to ramp-up knowledge, in a group with contribution of colleagues. Academies in companies usually are given during several months, because they include on-the-job-training.
An example of an amazing OutSystems Academy, which I’m proud to announce, took place last year (2019) in The Netherlands. An intense educational low-code program, under professional guidance and a real business case. Students were encouraged to experience, collaborate and learn OutSystems foundations (beyond a traditional classroom or online courses).
As one of the participants mentioned: “The academy did not give me solutions to problems: it taught me development best practices and the right approach in projects to prevent problems from happening in the first place.” (Teun Kusters).
To acknowledge, this academy was only possible thanks to the enthusiastic energy of: all participants, Team Resilience, Procam, OutSystems, Community Management, Customer Success, and many others! ✌
